Podcast Episode 1: From Family Legacy to a Future of Home Comfort
When you invite a service company into your home, you want more than quick fixes. You want trust, expertise, and a proven track record. That’s exactly what we deliver day in and day out and this podcast will be no different.
In our debut episode, General Manager Clay Winters shares how Control Tech’s story began in 1983 in Zionsville, Indiana, when his father Alan left a sales-hungry HVAC company to start something different: a business built on honesty, integrity, and customer education.
A Family Legacy of Heating, Cooling & Plumbing Excellence
Clay grew up inside the business riding along in service trucks, learning skills from technicians, and understanding how to treat customers with respect from both of his parents. Over four decades, Control Tech has expanded from a single truck to nearly 70 employees, while maintaining its original promise of transparent, reliable service.
Control Tech offers a variety of services but following is our bread and butter:
- Comprehensive HVAC services: installation, repair, and preventive maintenance
- Full-service plumbing: launched in 2023 to meet customer demand
- Educational approach: empowering homeowners with DIY tips and energy-saving advice
Why Education Drives Everything We Do
“People want to be educated, not just sold to,” Clay explains. That philosophy inspired the Far From Robotic Podcast, where Clay and other industry experts will discuss:
- Seasonal HVAC maintenance tips
- Federal tax credits and rebates
- Smart plumbing upgrades for efficiency and comfort
- Industry insights and technology trends homeowners can trust
